About Northeast Gas & Ice

Who we are, where we're located, and how long we've been doing this.

Where is Northeast Gas & Ice located?

Northeast Gas & Ice is located at 97 Turnpike Rd, Westborough, Massachusetts 01581 — at the I-495/I-90/Route 9 intersection that puts us within reach of every state we serve. Our facility offers same-day pickup of dry ice and gas cylinders Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Phone: (508) 257-1680.

How long has Northeast Gas & Ice been in business?

Northeast Gas & Ice has been a family-owned and operated industrial gas and dry ice supplier since 1958. For over six decades our family has built its reputation on consistent, hands-on service — daily delivery routes, direct dispatch, and the same family making the decisions.

What states does Northeast Gas & Ice serve?

We run daily delivery routes Monday through Friday across all six New England states:

  • Massachusetts
  • New Hampshire
  • Vermont
  • Maine
  • Connecticut
  • Rhode Island

Same-day pickup is available at our Westborough, MA facility for customers who prefer to pull product directly. Call (508) 257-1680 to confirm the next delivery day in your area.

Section 02 — Dry Ice

Dry Ice

Pellets, blocks, totes, and bulk supply for cold-chain shipping, blasting, food processing, and lab use.

Where can I buy dry ice near me in Massachusetts?

You can buy dry ice in Massachusetts directly from our Westborough facility at 97 Turnpike Rd, with same-day pickup Monday through Friday, 9 AM – 4 PM. We also deliver dry ice on daily routes throughout MA, NH, VT, ME, CT, and RI. Call (508) 257-1680 ahead so your order is staged and ready when you arrive.

What types of dry ice do you sell?

We stock six categories of dry ice:

  • 3mm pellets — for dry ice blasting and food packaging (50 lb boxes, 250 lb totes, pallets)
  • 16mm (5/8") pellets — for extended cold-chain shipping (50 lb boxes, 250 lb totes, pallets)
  • Block dry ice — 10, 20, 30, 50 lb blocks for longest-duration cooling
  • Sliced block — 10 and 20 lb cuts for trade-show coolers, lab work, and theatrical fog
  • HR-11 & HR-27 tote service — insulated containers from 500 lb up to 1,400 lb capacity (rental or purchase)
  • Bulk volumes — pallet, half-truck, and full-truck quantities

See our dry ice product page for full specifications.

How long does dry ice last?

Dry ice typically loses 5 – 10 lb per 24 hours in a properly insulated container at room temperature. Larger blocks last longer than pellets because of their lower surface-area-to-mass ratio. Insulated HR-11 and HR-27 totes hold dry ice for several days; standard hard-shell coolers hold for 18–36 hours depending on insulation and outdoor temperature.

Do you rent dry ice totes?

Yes. We offer HR-11 and HR-27 insulated tote rental and purchase. HR-11 holds 500–700 lb of dry ice; HR-27 holds 1,000–1,400 lb depending on form (blasting pellets, pellets, or block). Totes are ideal for on-site dry ice storage when you need extended hold time without ongoing pickups. Contact us to set up a rental program.

Do you supply dry ice for blasting?

Yes. Our 3mm dry ice pellets are sized specifically for dry ice blasting equipment used in non-abrasive cleaning of molds, machinery, electrical equipment, and food-processing lines. We supply pellets in 50 lb boxes, 250 lb totes, and pallet quantities — and run high-volume programs for production blasting contractors.

Section 03 — Industrial, Welding & Specialty Gases

Gas Products

Pure gases, blends, and ultra-high-purity specialty gases for every operation type.

What industrial gases do you supply?

We supply nitrogen (N₂), oxygen (O₂), carbon dioxide (CO₂), argon (Ar), helium (He), acetylene, and propane. Available in 20 – 300 cf compressed cylinders, 160 L and 230 L liquid Dewars, and bulk tanks from 750 lb up to 13,000 gallons. Common applications: food & beverage, manufacturing, metalworking, electronics, pharma, and laboratory work.

Do you sell argon and CO₂ for welding?

Yes. We stock the full range of welding shielding gases:

  • 75/25 Argon/CO₂ — all-purpose MIG mix for mild steel
  • 90/10 Argon/CO₂ — thicker steel and out-of-position welds
  • 100% CO₂ — economical MIG shielding for general fabrication
  • 100% Argon — TIG welding aluminum, stainless, and exotic alloys
  • Tri-Mix (He/Ar/CO₂) — stainless steel MIG with low distortion
  • Custom blends — built to your weld procedure

Available in 80, 125, 250, and 330 cf cylinders. Same-day cylinder exchange at our Westborough dock. See welding gases for full details.

Do you offer custom welding gas blends?

Yes. We build custom welding mixtures to your weld procedure — argon, helium, CO₂, and oxygen blends in any specification. Common applications include stainless-steel MIG (Tri-Mix), aluminum TIG (100% Ar), exotic-alloy welding, and plasma cutting. Call (508) 257-1680 with your spec and we'll quote.

Do you supply ultra-high-purity (UHP) and calibration gases?

Yes. We supply 5.0, 5.5, and 6.0 grade ultra-high-purity nitrogen, helium, argon, and oxygen for analytical labs, semiconductor fabrication, and laser applications. We also supply NIST-traceable calibration mixtures for gas detection, emissions monitoring, and instrument calibration, with full certificates of analysis on request. See specialty gases for grades and container sizes.

Section 04 — Bulk & Cryogenic

Bulk & Micro Bulk

High-volume gas supply for breweries, food production, biotech, manufacturing, and research.

Do you install bulk CO₂ tanks for breweries?

Yes. We install stationary bulk CO₂ tanks in 750, 1,000, 2,500, and 6,000 lb capacities for breweries, restaurants, beverage plants, and food production facilities. Installation is turnkey — site survey, permits, install, and ongoing preventive maintenance — with telemetry-based refill monitoring available so you never run out mid-batch.

Do you offer telemetry monitoring for bulk gas systems?

Yes. We offer real-time tank-level telemetry monitoring with automatic refill scheduling on bulk and Micro Bulk vessels. Telemetry eliminates run-outs and lets us schedule refills before your tank reaches reorder threshold. Compatible with all bulk and Micro Bulk vessels we install.

What sizes of bulk cryogenic tanks do you offer?

We install 1,500, 3,000, 6,000, 9,000, and 13,000 gallon stationary cryogenic tanks for liquid nitrogen (LIN), liquid oxygen (LOX), liquid argon (LAR), and liquid carbon dioxide (LCO₂). For lower-volume customers we offer Micro Bulk vessels in 180 L, 240 L, 450 L, and 1,500 L sizes — bulk economics without a permanent install. See bulk gases for full specs.

Section 06 — Account & Pricing

Account & Pricing

Setting up an account, getting a quote, and ordering for the first time.

How do I set up an account with Northeast Gas & Ice?

Contact us by phone at (508) 257-1680 or through our contact form. We'll walk you through the credit application, schedule a site assessment if bulk supply is needed, and put together a delivery program built around your operation — frequency, products, container sizes, and pickup vs. delivery preferences.

How do I get a price quote?

Submit a quote request through our contact page or call (508) 257-1680 with your product, quantity, frequency, and delivery location. We respond within one business day with pricing and delivery options.

Do I need an account to order, or can I buy directly?

Both. Walk-in pickup of dry ice does not require an account — call ahead to (508) 257-1680 to confirm availability and pricing. Recurring delivery, cylinder programs, and bulk supply work better on an account so we can schedule routes and exchange cylinders efficiently.

Section 07 — Safety & Documentation

Safety & Documentation

SDS sheets, certificates of analysis, and handling guidance.

Where can I find Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for your products?

Safety Data Sheets are available on request for any product we supply — dry ice, industrial gases, welding gases, specialty gases, and bulk cryogenic systems. Call (508) 257-1680 or email us and we'll send the SDS for the specific product and grade you ordered.

Do you provide certificates of analysis (COA) for specialty and calibration gases?

Yes. We provide certificates of analysis on request for ultra-high-purity gases, calibration mixtures, and other specialty gases. NIST-traceable documentation is available for calibration mixes used in gas detection, emissions monitoring, and instrument calibration.
